So How Does It Work?

What makes us different is that we shall be concentrating on singing fun, modern songs using backing tracks with a sound system to make the songs buzz! Have a look at the 'Our Music' Page to see examples of the type of music we shall be singing.

When and Where are the sessions ?

The singing practices will be held every Monday evening during term time at Crick Village Hall, Bucknills Lane, Crick (8.00pm). There will a refreshment break half way through for people to socialise and rest ! Just bring yourselves, a pencil (to make notes on your music sheets), some water to drink to keep your throat lubricated .......... oh, and a mug for your half time tea or coffee so there's no washing up afterwards!

Do I have to be able to read music?

Defintely not! It will of course be useful if you have some experience of singing and reading music but the majority of the songs will be learned by repetition so no highly technical skills are necessary. Just come along and sing!

How much does it cost?

The 'subs' for each week are £4.00 (1st session free!) which can be paid in cash or contactless and this is to provide for the hire of the Hall and refreshments along with the purchase of any new music. Derek will be working in a voluntary capacity and will take no financial benefit from the choir. In time, if there are excess funds in the kitty, the choir may vote to make a donation to an agreed charity.

Who will manage the choir?

In the first instance, Derek will be managing the whole thing but should the choir be successful it is likely that a small committee would be set up to run things moving forward ...........

Its a brand new venture so much will depend on how many people come along to sing on a regular basis.

Is it for you?

JUNCTIØN18 has been set up for people in Crick and the surrounding villages to come and enjoy themselves and leave any cares behind for a couple of hours on a Monday night! You may be a villager who wishes to meet new friends in the village or someone who has a stressful job and needs a fun distraction on a Monday night or even a young mum who wants a bit of 'me time'! You may have sung in a choir before or may be a complete novice........ it doesn't matter ...... come and have a go ......... if you don't like it then you you can give it a swerve ........ but at least you will have tried.

You never know ..... it may be a fabulous surprise!

Come and join us for a fun evening ....
8.00pm Monday evenings at Crick Village Hall

Derek, the choir leader of Junction18, sang as a choirboy in South Wales and for the last 25 years has sung in a number of award winning chamber choirs and vocal ensembles. These included Staffordshire based 'Friday Voices' and ex Sainsbury's Choir of the Year 'Choros Amici'.

Over the last 10 years, Derek has founded and been choir co-ordinator for 8 piece vocal ensemble, 'Ocho' who have developed a really wide range of repertoire from their sacred choral roots to a cappella arrangements of modern popular songs. The ensemble has recently won the 'Mixed Choir' Class at Bangor International Choral Competition in Northern Ireland.

The development of  JUNCTIØN18 has reflected his desire to bring the joy of ensemble singing to as many people as possible in as fun and sociable way as possible!
